Board Chair and President – Cecile has enjoyed a varied 38+ year career as a university professor, a consulting firm owner and a business operations consultant. She looks for ways to integrate process and people in any setting. Her clients included major corporations, privately owned businesses, and non-profits. She has served as a volunteer for various youth sports, education and church organizations. Cecile holds a B.A., an M.A., and a Ph.D. from the University of Minnesota. No one should wonder where their next meal is coming from or if it will come. Cecile is committed to helping the THAFS continue to live its mission, in a viable and compassionate manner, to serve all who struggle with food insecurity..
Board Vice Chair and Vice President – Paula moved to Two Harbors in 2016 when she was appointed pastor to the United church of Two Harbors. She come with extensive non-profit board of directors’ experience having served as chair of both Minnesota Quilters and the Wesley Foundation at the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities campus. Paula holds a BA from UMD and an MA from St. Mary’s university of MN. She had worked in the field of mental health for 25 years before going into the ministry. She has a passion for serving people who find themselves in a situation where they require a hand up rather than a hand out.
Board Member and Secretary – Debra McDonald lives in rural Two Harbors area with her husband, John. With a Civil Engineering degree from Iowa State University, she has spent the majority of her professional career working in the environmental and solid waste industry, solving waste issue problems. She can’t stand the thought of food going to waste and is happy to serve on the THAFS Board to reduce hunger and improve the health of people in need.
Board Member and Treasurer
Board Member at Large – Joan retired from AT&T with 37 years of service, and then worked on the 2010 Census for 2 years. Joan and her husband fell in love with the North Shore on a trip to the area, built a vacation home in 2015 and finally moved to Two Harbors full-time in April, 2017. She is so passionate about ending hunger that she began volunteering at the Food Shelf before becoming a full-time resident. She has served on the Board since January of 2018, most recently as Board Chair from 2019 to March of 2021.
Mary realized her dream of living on the North Shore in 2018. She has embraced the beauty of the area by hiking, kayaking, photography and is trying to learn to curl.
Board Member at Large – Fritz and his family recently returned home to Minnesota to split their time between Duluth and Isabella. Fritz currently serves as Vice President, Information Technology at Maurices and has had a long career in IT with Target and other companies in southeastern and central Minnesota. Fritz holds a BA from Indiana University and an MS from the University of North Texas. He looks forward to serving the food shelf.
